This message is in reply to a message a few weeks ago concerning the proper cage setup for eastern indigos. I finally got around to taking some pics lastnight & thought i'd post them to see if you experts think it's suitable.
In this pic, you'll get an idea of how it's furnished.
I have provided 3 hide areas. One is a store bought hide box which seems to be the prefered hiding area. The next is a disposable container with damp sphagnum moss, and also a paper towel roll. The latter 2 are seldom used except for the one containing the moss, she seems to prefer it during shed cycles.
there is also a water bowl & a climbing branch.
This next picture shows how the cage is heated & secured. I am using a strip of heat tape which runs across and under the rear of the cage. I am also using a 40 watt bulb to provide light & heat.
The sterilite box lid is secured with velcro straps.
BTW the larger cage which houses the sterilite box will be the permenant home for her when she outgrows her current accomodations.

I am using a digital indoor/outdoor thermometer from radio shack as well as an el cheapo thermometer/humidity guage to track the temps & %of humidity in the cage. The first pic shows the temp on the cool side (front) of the cage.

This shows the temp on the warm (back) side of the cage.

...and finally, this last pic shows the humidity inside the larger cage which will be slightly different than inside the sterilite.

Thanks for tollerating this long message. :-)
Eric
