Scale "flaking" with eastern indigos . . . ?

Has anybody else with an eastern noticed this:

I am always finding tiny bits of what I suspect are scales, whenever I clean my eastern's water dish. They are the size and shape of human eyelashes and are usually found on the lip of his ceramic dish. Looks like some kind of scale loss. Just wanted to see if it was common or not. Thanks.
