I consider myself to have had some decent results with my indigos. I've developed a routine that I follow and it works...most of the time. This year, I potentially could have gotten 2 clutches of my own and a 3rd that I was working on with a local freind. Of the 3 females in the project I got a grand total of 3, Yes, count 'em,1-2-3 surviving eggs.
Indigos aren't as cookie cutter reliable as many other snakes when it comes to reproduction. So while some folks may be getting worked up over the price of indigos, the fact that there aren't many babies even left for sale seems to be getting past them.
I do believe that indigos will come down in price, a little, in a few years for a couple reasons: More breeders are figuring out the techniques that work and the limited number of cages in the world are being filled with cheaper snakes. I dont believe they will ever be "cheap".
:I understand someone complaining about high prices. I know the frustration of wanting a species so bad and not being able to afford it, but on the big scale, Indigos are not that expensive, for what they are. Womas, Blackheads, boa morphs, ball python morphs, rare Asian Rats, and on and on are far higher. No snake can surpass a big Indigo as a captive. Perhaps this opinion is self-serving with me selling them this year, but I paid top dollar for my pair, and this was my rationalization. Hey, I have to find some way to justify my addiction!
:Just my 2 cents,
