Sub-species of Spilotes?

The more I see of Costa Rican Spilotes the more I wonder if they may be at least a seperate sub-species, if not species. Take a look at the color and scalation differences in the Costa Rican spilotes at the link below. The head has different scalation, the body scales are much more heavily keeled, and the pattern of Costa Rican spilotes is consistantly distinct.

I know I'm making assumptions on insufficient information ( and knowledge!) Does anyone have additional evidence for or against this idea?
