OK,
I can't stand it. I have to finally say this publicly. Please do not criticize Victoria Davis as she does not make the laws. Elected officials and their appointees make and constantly refine laws as they see fit.
Ms. Davis is serving all of us by processing our permit applications. We may be unhappy with the law due to the ever increasing burden it places upon all of us. However, please do not take out our hard feelings on the one person who is bending over backwards to help us work within the confines of the law.
Ms. Davis is working very diligently to process our permit applications. She has to do this for every single federally engadered and threatend species in the United States. That is a lot of work. We should applaud her for all that she has done for us.
The captive group of Florida Indigos in the U.S is now hopelessly inbred because we are not legally able to introduce any new genetic material into the group. While habitat destruction continues unabated, the legislators are not interested in allowing us to save any of the animals in the localities that are forever destroyed, animals that could provide the genetic variability for a captive propogation program that could last for centuries. Isn't this the criticism we should consider?
