just last night I was feeding...my female TX was greedily trying to ingest (more like INHALE) a small rat.
Her tail was sticking out of the cage, and I had anther rat in my hand.
I opened the cage directly below her which is male elliott male yellowtail without closing her cage door first since she was partially out. (stupid mistake)
He's usually a shyer feeder, but not this time.
He caught wind of the rat, came out of the cage, mouth open.
So...my first instict was to get the rest of the female TX in the cage and shut the door.
He follows my hand...up out of the cage, sees the movement and bites the female TX HARD...who jerks away hisses...never letting go of the rat...she was ready to fight to keep it!
Luckily...shw shows no signs of a bite mark at all. (and she greedily ate another rat after that one!)
whew ! never a dull moment with these guys.
