As far as escapees go, don't be sure it isn't an indigo...they're clever as all heck, and I happen to know of an instance where this happened.
A while back a member of the Pacific Northwest Herp Society was called in by animal control to pick up a 5+ foot black snake in some freaked-out person's back yard.
The gorgeous male easter indigo (in near perfect health) was adoped out the next month. How would you like to pick up a near breeder sized male for $10? =)
On the other hand, I've only closely viewed/held a half dozen or so indigos...but I'm still pretty sure I could never confuse them with anything else (although admittedly, I'm of limited experience)...indigos just seem too cool to mistake.

: : Some indigo's have white/cream chins?????????
: It was WC in Maryland, far from the range of Indigos. It can't be an Indigo. The reason I asked on this forum is I thought there might be a snake commonly confused w/Indigos.
