I sent my Interstate Commerce Permit for a pair of Easterns to the US Fish and Wildlife Office in my region (per the address link on the online .pdf permit on the .gov site). The office in my region is right here in Albuquerque, NM. Great I thought...a little less mail time. But my worries got the best of me and so I called Victoria Davis just to make sure I did the right thing. She said I should have mailed the permit to the office of the region where the threatened animal's natural habitat is, which is the Atlanta office. Oh no! She assured me that the Albq office would forward it to Atlanta...probably:( Good thing I called the Albq office because they weren't sure what to do with it! Now my precious permit is on the right path...probably.
In short, the online permit tells you one address, the people who actually process them tells you another. I may be getting another pair so this time the permit is going straight to Atlanta. Should save a week or two.
Here's the Atlanta address that Victoria Davis gave me:
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
1875 Century Boulevard, Suite 200
Attn: Endangered Species Permits
Atlanta, Georgia 30345
