: My big cribo is eating, although lightly, I think, for a snake his size. He ate a small rat two nights ago as of last night, and he let loose with a watery stool. He's had probably 8 craps since I got him, and they've been pretty solid, or at least had a lot of solid matter in them. This is the first time I actually saw him go, though. Is it normal to have a watery release, followed by a more solid defacation?
Trustone,
Watery stools? Almost all Indigo feces come out very watery and liquid like in substance. They spray them on the bottem of their cage, in the corners(Arrgghh!) on their hideboxes and even on the ceilings of their cagees. These snakes are DEFINETLY not meant to be kept in cages, they need wide open spaces in which to poo. Your snake defecateing watery feces is quite normal, they also urinate in the same way. What you may have witnessed is a urination. If you are truly woried, gather up some of his fresh waste, dont refigerate it, take it directly to a vet along with the snake itself and have him examined a nd a fecal examine done, that should rule out any internal parasites. Best of luck. Drymarchon ARe messy snakes, but it is worth the headache.
