: dean, judging from my [formerly] juvie yt, it takes about a year or more for them to lose the banding in captivity. i think it's a size thing actually. seems to start to fade quickly at around 3'. she came in here last fall as a yearling 2 footer and heavily marked. now she's easily doubled her size and looks much more like an adult. may take longer in the wild however. and here's the kicker dean........she's not psycho! lol.
