I got my permit back recently, and based on what I've read here, mine came back very quickly. It even had a handwritten thank you note! I think it's because I put a lot of detail, professional appearance, etc. into the extra info page. If you want, I can email it to you. You can just change the info and use it for what you want to do. Mine was an interstate request because I'm having a snake shipped from California to Maryland.
