: From what I've seen in Florida, they tend to be much thinner in general than captive snakes UNTIL they hit about 6'
: All the 6' + snakes were HEFTY. guess the old metablosim catches up with them!
:
: : : I was recently visiting a local nature center which has a 5-6 foot eastern indigo. Probably closer to 5 feet. In terms of girth, it was like a lot of captive indogos I've seen at museums and other nature centers here in FL. These snakes are absolutely FAT. This particular one had a girth like a semi-squashed grapefruit. I know drymarchon are robust snakes, but this was getting towards blood python thick.
: : : Every pic of drymarchon I've seen they tend to be more colubrid-like, but on the thick side.
: : : So is this kind of fatness (for lack of a better word) just a by-product of captivity?
