I had one for quite a few years, & finally sold it as a pet, because I didn't want to breed it.
It was a male about 4.5' long, & seemed to be really stiff, as if some of the vertabrae were fused. It always ate well.
Temperature, or genetic - don't know, but with a relatively small captive gene pool it could be genetic.
