We were informed of this factoid by one of our forum lads; that Drymarchon is greek (not all scientific names are latin) for forest guardian (Dry = forest & Marchon = guardian ??). Isnt that cool?
: I keep seing this term "guardian" in many treads on the forum. Perhaps it's because I'm relatively new to the forum and thus missed the initial explanation when the word first popped up in discussion, but I was wondering what the origins of the word were, as I've never seen it anywhere else in the litt apart from this forum to date. Does it apply to all Drymarchons sp and ssp, or just the Easterns? And what exactly do they "guard", apart from the secret to breed the f$#&*rs?
