: Im truly torn between raising a black milksnake or an indigo Im just crazy about both But I want to go with one or the other.Whats the pros & cons of each?Which has the best temperment? Thanks for your advice

Brandon,

This is a tough question.
A lot boils down to your level of
experience with snakes PRIOR to
makeing this decision. With a low level of exeperience I would definetly suggest that you
go with the black milk. Mistakes are easier to
weather on snakes that dont cost almost as much as your monthly rent on your apartment.Seriously.
Doug Taylor said it well earlier. (Allright Doug!!)

On the other hand...if you are TRULY experienced with snakes, have bred any, then perhaps you would be better served by buying an Indigo. Spending $120.00 to buy a black milk, only to turn around 2 yrs later, get rid of it and buy and Indigo is a bit of a WASTE OF MONEY.

Indigos are high maintenance snakes.
They require large cages(Relatively)
They require a LOT of dedication to keep
them clean and well fed.
"The Reward" is that they are very interactive and
alert snakes that have an intelligence and beauty UNLIKE any
other snake in this hobby todate.

Black Milks are beautifull
Lower maintenance
Require smaller cages
But completely LACK the awareness that Indigos
possess.Completely, Sorry but it is true.
Milksnakes spend and inordinate amount of time HIDING. Enough said.

Brandon , if you truly have a decent degree of snake knowledge I would Definetly bypass the Milk Snake. That is $100.00 you could put into a nice cage for YOUR eastern Indigo. They are big, they make a lot of waste, it smells, but frankly..even with all those negatives, we wouldnt have anything else in its place!

*cheers*

Fred

P.S.

Research it,talk to MANY people that have
them(Indigos) that DONT breed them(No sales involved) and make your OWN decision.
You are blessed to even have a choice as to what you can or cant keep, as are we all.
