In Reply to: For Dean, the spilotes keepers among us and large colubrid.. posted by Big J on April 15, 2002 at 13:52:53:
: fans.
: Any info on tiger rat maitenance and breeding? (Tiger rats aren't really rats at all and should be talked about by the true large colubrid fans which applies to us)(Dean I saw that you keep them from a search history on this site)
: I just picked up a reverse trio of these awesome animals. (They are wild caught that had supposedly been in the country about 4 months and have had two full doses of flagyl and panicure) I am fan of the larger colubrids, and currently keep Indigos, False Water Cobras, and a few other things.
: Here are my observations from the very little time that I have had with them. From what I have seen these animals are a lot of fun and actually much less aggressive than I had heard. They rattle a lot and are a little fighty, but it seems to be all bluff. They hang on to me like a tree wrapping aound my head and shoulders until they have access to somewhere higher they can reach. I have one male that is approximately 8 feet and one that is approximately 5. The female is close to 7. The large male and female definately ate last night and the little male may have.
: Anyway, I would love to hear from all the spilotes keepers. Please voice your opinions and stories regarding these animals. I can tell I am going to have a great time with these snakes.
: Regards all (Yes I am aware this is the Indigo forum)
