:We affectionately call that "the white rock road" and I know every turn and puddle the whole 13 mile way through the Fakahatchee Strand and the paved roads at the end we call "the blocks". Best snake hunting area I've ever been in. I know of several very large Indigos observed there and if you drive the paved road at the end to Everglades Blvd and go south to the canal at the end theres a beautiful pine wooded area we called the garden of Eden that is home to them too. Seen panther, bear, and everything imaginable in that area and HUGE diamondbacks, moccasins and Indigos. Old time collector wasn't Big George from Jerome was it? Love cruisin Wagonwheel Road just south of Copeland (the other side of 29 from the white rock road) The mention of it in your post made me jones for getting out there again-I could go on for hours about field collecting out there- lots of great times. My advice- when you see one and he bolts into the inpenetrable bush just sit and wait- they're darn stubborn and will eventually pop back out like they own the place. Take only pictures- I wish I had done that!
