In Reply to: Mutt& more mutts, oops, not politic correct, I meant posted by Fred Albury on April 05, 2002 at 18:39:23:

a few months back(or at least came to your defense)Those folks are as passionate as we are about their animals...They do produce beautiful animals but, sheesh, WHY?! I don't understand them..I'll step off the soap box now, Thanks Guys..

: : Eric, a gorgeous snake, be very proud of him, Just don't breed Him!!! Sorry I love Pits too, just don't hit their forum much because I would really have a negative bank account..They are all so beautiful and fun, especially when they hiss..My favorite is a big Northern female we call "Hissy" puts on the biggest bluffs and never bites....
: : Anyway thanks for joining in, but we are the most anti crossbred group there is!!!
: : Did you guys see the Pic of a GARTERxCORN cross on kingsnake!!!! My lord, what's going to get crossed next...A King Cobra with a Retic??!! What an attitude problem that would be!!!!

: : : : Fred,

: :
: : : : For the most part, what you say about pituophis remaing pure is true. However, this one is an intergrade between a bull & a gopher. No, I didn't do it. LOL I got it from a friend who collected one of each & thought nothing of crossing them since their ranges overlap in the wild. I bought if for like $15 & then sold it about a year later. The guy I sold it to ended up GIVING it back to me when it bagan approaching 6ft because he was intimidated by it!! LOL
: : : : I kept it for another year or so before trading it back to the breeder because my wife hated it, it was a hissing monster! LOL

: : : : Hope your opinion of me isn't too tarnish now. :-)

: : : : Eric

: : :
: : : Eric,

: : : Still, you had Pituophis, even if it was a mutt. Go forth and by pure ones! Thanks for the reply.

: : : *cheers*

: : : Fred

: Carl,

:
: You have NO IDEA of the amount of crosses I have seen in the last 2 years. What sadens me most is NEWCOMERS to this hobby that dont really have a good grip on a certain snake, havent ever bred that type of snake, and the first thing they want to do is produce Mutts...er..Hybrids!
: I have seen people that HAVE bred a certain type of snake for years cross them with another type, which is no easy feat actually, esp boa& pythons. This has to be a marketing issue and maybe a boredom issue as well. understandable.
: But I dont like them.
: I dont go on the hybrid forum and flame the people(Though I have) because that would be like someone comeing on here flaming us for breeding Drymarchon. That is their forum. Not mine.
: I watch with sickened interest as corns ar crossed with texas rats, balls are crossed with bloods, and(gulp) carpets are crossed with retics(Dear lord why?) And lastly, anacondas crossed with brazilian rainbow boas. ugh Think of the attitude of that snakes offspring!!lol

: Between this forum and the Pituophis forum, they are pretty much the last bastillion for people that like snakes that arent a product of 2 diff type of snakes being crossed.

: Sorry for the rant
: WAY to much caffeine
: Time to eat some chocolate,

:
: Fred

:
: P.S.
: Pro hybrid people please dont come
: on and argue me about the proper
: terminology of the word "Mutts"
: I can call them hybrids if it pleases
: you.I would do that for you,I would...
