These animals are impressive, not just in terms of size and beauty, but in temperament and intelligence as well. I bought my Texan after SEEING the Eastern here at the Audubon Zoo.
I'm thinking about moving my volunteer gig to the Education Animal Building just for the opportunity of working with him.
I don't have an Eastern yet, but it is inevitable that I will. The permit process is a very small hurdle to jump; it's just paperwork. Fill in one line at a time.
But, if you get the chance to "visit" one up close, man alive!

: Not the hassle so much, but I have NO experience handling these snakes, I just think they're beautiful. Want to handle one before I make the commitment.
