that Texas Indigos are larger than Easterns...It would make sense as the farther south you go the bigger the species gets...Also calls them "Spilotes" in a line..
I caught quite a few between 7-8 ft as a kid in the late 60's/early 70's...Carl
: : can they reach 9ft..I saw one on animal planet and they are cool looking..are males larger then females? Anyone got pics of big ones?

: The only Eastern Indigo that I have seen over 9ft., was at a swap meet in Ohio. Huge male. I have seen quite a few in the 7-7 1/2 foot range, even the odd female. The largest one that I found in the wild back in the late seventies measured about 7ft.3inches(male). This animal was caught in southern Georgia in Peanut County. I have seen yellow tail cribos (males) at around 9ft. at the Shed in Miami Fla., back in the late seventies, early eighties. One of these i purchased, and it went on to produce three sets of eggs which hatched and produced beautiful babies(those were the days!). How rare is an Drymarchon over 8ft nowadays, very rare!
