Magnum, my 8 1/2+ male Uni has gone bonkers in the last month...
He is a 5-6 yr old WC as juv...Has always been very tame and calm..Over the last month he has become as bi-polar as they come...He will strike the cage door so hard his nose shield is gone like a fresh WC!! He's eating like a horse!! He nailed my son when we were taking him out to soak pre-shed..Luckily he didn't really mean it and didn't hang on, but still scared the Sh$#@! out of Grant...(He's the kid holding him on the forum gallery)
This is a snake that has been the ultimate lapsnake...I've got great pics of him just laying on my lap while I'm reading..(I know, I know..I can't post them because my hi-speed server is still screwing up, but I promise...)
Has anyone else seen this type of behavior from a longtermer before?? I did just increase his ambient heat to around 80 from the upper 60's he's been at for 3 months...The Texans' bred in the cage below him and his cage is now on top of a female Eastern..Is he just PO'd 'cause he's not having fun?? Pheremones in snakes??
Needless to say it is unsettling to take him out of the cage now for cleaning or handling..(Yes, unlike some of you, we like to handle our snakes) He is massive..I need to re-measure him..He looks like he's grown 6"+ since last measurement and girth is, well, Magnum sized...This snake ate a 6 1/2' Carpet Python last summer..Not mine...It's another story...
Any Brillant minds out there have an idea what's going on?? Carl
