: A lot of carriers are probably going to stop shipping animals due to constraints imposed on them. Anybody out there have any solid info on this?

hi everyone

here's some info from the other responses i got.

Senate bills (SB 82 and SB 1193) are part of this problem. A short explanation. SB 1193 is the Safe Air Travel for Animals Act. SB 82 is an amendment to SB 1193. SB 82 has never even had a public hearing! SB 82 is VERY expensive to implement. Under this amendment, air carriers are required to:
1)Submit info about flights to USDA 24 hours in advance of flight if any animals are present.
2)Submit detailed reports of all incidents-loss, injury, death, consumer complaints.
3)Ensure crew members are alerted of animals on flights and institute a training program for such.
4)Publish info. on risks associated with air travel for animals.
5)Make structural mods. to aircraft(heating, cooling, fresh air, etc.)

If you were an air carrier, would you want all this extra hassle for the small amount of money you could make on a few animal shipments? Please note, this applies to ALL animals. Everything from dogs and cats to reptiles, birds, fish, farm animals, zoo animals, whatever.

Animal rights activists are pushing hard for this bill. I believe they are doing this to help cripple the pet industry. Please help stop them. Do you want your delicate expensive species to be driven for days on end across the country instead of flown in just a few hours. I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ANIMAL DIE DURING SHIPPING! I know it happens, but not so often that eliminating air shipping will improve things. Please E-mail the following asking for a no vote on SB 82 and a few short reasons why. Also, please state that you do not want amendnents to bill SB 1193 at the last minute WITHOUT ANY HEARINGS OR DEBATE. Also, please be nice. Nastyness will not help! This makes me furious but I will not let my E-mails to them reflect this. Thanks for all who care. Just so you know, @ is the at sign. It looks a little wierd here.
