: Any of you "old timers" (not necessarily in age, just time breeding Indigos & on the forum) feel you could hazard an educated guess as to how many captive Indigos are being bred successfully at this time. I would think that a majority of the breeders are either on the forum or known by the regular contributors. I understand that it would be unscientific & possibly very wrong, but the forum would have the best idea of what's going on out there.
David,
Thats a tough one especially since we are talking not only Easterns, which would be easy enough to do, but also Cribos, which are not commonly bred by people and some almost no at all. I would have to venture to say no more than 1,000 breeding snakes in the U.S. total. this doesnt count all the neoneates being raised up by "would be" breeders who will try and breed them in the next 4 years. I say 1,000. Ignore the earlier calculation, my Nyquil hadent worn off yet.
Fred
