But, there is a potential loophole. Some authorities (notably Joe Collins of CNAH) regard couperi as a separate species. Therefore, it would be possible to own the species Drymarchon couperi in TX. Of course, how TPWD would feel about this is another issue. My guess is that if you had papers on animal, they would let it slide.
BTW - I checked the list on the TPWD web site to see how they listed the snake.
