: Hi! I received an eastern for Christmas from my dad, in full blue. A friend of my dad's was taking care of him prior to that. He shed on the 28th, not perfect, but not bad. I have not been able to entice him to eat. He ate 4 f/t pinks on or about the 13th. I've offered everything including goldfish, but he just gets agitated. At what point do I get nervous? Any suggestions? I've waited 20 years for this snake, I don't want to blow it! He is in a 30 gallon tank. Gradient day 74 to 100, night 72. 2" of cypress mulch throughout. He is active and seems to use the entire cage. I know there are many experts in here, please let me know what you think. Been reading this forum for a long time, I can finally join in!
Hello,
Baby Eastern Indigos will sometimes eat live pinks and sometimes you have to scent them. The best I have found is scenting live pinks heavily with herring. You can obtain herring as bait food frozen. Soak the pink in the oils from the skin. They always come around and it's pretty neat when they start showing you their feeding prowess. I have been working with them for a few years now and have bred them the last couple of years. They are magnificant animals! Good luck.
Ben
