You can get incubators as fancy or as spartan as you want. I have one that's super fancy, one that's super not fancy.
Super fancy: go to a local university biology dept. and find out when they are upgrading their incubators. Buy the old ones used for pennies on the dollar.
Not Fancy: Go buy an ice chest from your local dept. store. Get a Wafer thermostat from your local feed store or spare Helix thermostat. Wire the the thermostat to your favorite heat source, i.e., heat tape, low wattage light bulb, etc., inside the the ice chest and you're done.
Good luck.
: After hatching Kingsnake & Ratsnake eggs & 5 out of 6 Indigo eggs in plastic boxes, filled with peat moss in a warm room, I'm thinking of getting a incubator this year. I checked back on the forum for e-mail on the subject, but need up to date info.Name names, dish the dirt. $500 incubators that killed the eggs, cheep ones that only killed some of the eggs. If you're afraid of being sued, e-mail me, I won't tell!
