: Is it less wrong to hybridize kings and rats?
Kings and rats are both very COMMON snakes in most colections, and with the exception of perhaps Molendorfs ratsnake, outerbanks kingsnakes and a few others not rare at all , either in the wild or captivity. In fact, one of the most popular ratsnakes, the cornsnake, is pretty much the white rabitt of the snake world, with people crossing and produceing basically anything you can possibly think of and a few you would like not to!
Some snakes lend themselves wel to hybridization, primarily becaue they breed so readily and are so easy to find and reproduce in captivity.
Eastern indigo,Rubiidus,Yelowtails, and Texas Indigos arent easy to reproduce.
Basically, kings and pituophis and ratsnakes and boa and pythons are allready TOAST when it comes to hybridization. Some have been gone for YEARS. witness the "jungle corn" crosses or the Argentine boaXSalmon Boa crosses, or the Ball PythonXBlood Python, OR PURE Louisiana pines that have 3 diffrent types ofsnakes in them, but no Louisiana blood!
Enough said.
We all have snakes other than Drymarchon, but lets thouroughly and actively discourage those who would hybridize these animals. If you want to cross things, get yourself a amel corn and an albino king. They ae allready inbred anyway.
answer to question: no, it WAs just as wrong, but hasgone so far tha most people dont care, but in the beginning it was just as wrong, minus the rarity of DRYMARCHON. My two centavos'.
