: Hi! I received an eastern for Christmas from my dad, in full blue. A friend of my dad's was taking care of him prior to that. He shed on the 28th, not perfect, but not bad. I have not been able to entice him to eat. He ate 4 f/t pinks on or about the 13th. I've offered everything including goldfish, but he just gets agitated. At what point do I get nervous? Any suggestions? I've waited 20 years for this snake, I don't want to blow it! He is in a 30 gallon tank. Gradient day 74 to 100, night 72. 2" of cypress mulch throughout. He is active and seems to use the entire cage. I know there are many experts in here, please let me know what you think. Been reading this forum for a long time, I can finally join in!
Well John, I can assure you I am no expert and probably have the least amount of experience with Indigos other than you. Anyway, here is my suggestion. I have found that my Indigos show the most interest in food an hour or so before dusk. At this time they are completely ravenous. You failed to mention if there is hide box. I find the hide box is very helpful at feeding time too. Just wave your mouse in front of the opening and watch out.
On a final note, I believe your DTH arond 100° to be way to high. I would shoot for 80-85° at most.
