Doug,
My friend, you make some great points. The diamond python was a great example. However, you always have to remember that sometimes hybrids DO cost more! Ask Bob clark for a ball x burmese!!! You could buy an adult GROUP of easterns for that much!! Or ask NERD for a green x yellow anaconda...nearly 2x the price of the more expensive green! Sinaloan x cal king...I've seen em for $400! Are any of them worth that? Not in my opinion, but I guess they sell.
Like Dean said, I realize that the regulars in this forum are NOT in it for the buck. How could you be? These snakes aren't "elaphe type" animals that produce like clockwork! They're income might be icing on the cake, but that's it!
I personally don't believe in crossing the two sub spp, but I just wanted to see how everyone else felt about this sticky subject.
This reminds me of the Fl panther who has been crossed with the northern "mountain" version to help re-establish the pop down in FL. Well everyone was like, "Great, the cats are COMing back! But wait...we don't have a pure FL panther anymore!!!"
