: In the wild what are Indigos main source of food? Do they mostly eat other snakes? Or are they like bulls where they devour populations of any mammals they can get their mouths on lol? I was just curious, because it seems these big guys could take down some pretty large animals like birds and such. Thanks a lot!
jake, despite their large size, they do not take down large prey due to the fact that they have narrow jaws that do not open all that wide. in the wild they eat small mammals, lizards, frogs and sometimes fish. they can handle large snakes however as these are 'anatomically correct'. i have 4' bull snakes that can wolf down good sized rats that my 8' cribos simply can not handle.
