: Hi Guys;
: Here's 1 for you all, I've got an adult Indigo I bought a few months ago from a petshop. He came with a bit of a burn mark on his tail, now 2 sheds later he's almost as good as new. However I had him out the other night & noticed what appeared to look like little scabs between the scales around his tail / cloaca area, they come off like little dried pieces of skin, kinda black in color (guess that's the melanin in the skin). They don't seem to be getting any worst & I just put some polysporin on it, the same as I did with his tail @ 1st.
: Sometimes I notice that there appears to be a little dry skin between his scales all over so I just spray him with a light mist & wipe him down with a face cloth to sort of 'exfoliate' him a little. Truth be known he seems to enjoy the attention.*************************************************** Dean, I have often had this problem with my adult Easterns during the winter months especially when i was keeping them on newsprint. Lack of proper humidity(central heating) and lower temps. seem to bring this on. I keep all my animals on cypress mulch which allows for better humidity control. Try notching the temp up to about 83-84 degrees. Feed fresh killed prey and not frozen/thawed for a while if this possible. Introduce some beefheart,chicken gizzards and fish into the diet. You might also try some cod liver oil as a viatimin benefit. Finally i have started using uv bulbs mounted at one end of the cage. Snakes often coil near or under them. Since i have started using these bulbs my animals have an incredible sheen to their skins. The yellowtails also enjoy these hot spots.*****
: Is this something I should be concerned about?? He's still eating like a horse (& crapping like 1 too :-) Just thought I'd run it by you all just to see what you guys may think. Fred? Dean? Doug? Dwight?? Any comments???
: Hope everyone had a great Christmas
: Dean
