Your description of that was funny but I am sure you were not exactly laughing. Thanks
: After speaking with and reading postings regarding feeding, agreesive mishaps with Indigos, I wanted to share an experience of my own. My largest female Eastern, 6-7 feet long was obviously hungrier than I thought one day. I foolishly was holding an adult mouse to feed this ravenous animal if you can believe that and she was in a hide box. While holding the mouse by the tail I turned to talk to someone and at the same time I "tapped" on the outside of her hidebox. I do this with some animals to get them used to this and I have seen certain species develop an evoked feeding response from this. Pavlov for snakes. Well this Indigo shot out of that box with the speed and ferocity I have yet to see matched, maybe by a crocodile or something similar. She hit me so hard that my hand slammed into the far side of the cage,(about two and a half feet away)with the snake attached to it. Someone in another room heard the thump and the impending yeeoooowwww! Lots of blood but it healed very quickly. The Indigo dropped the mouse and tore loose of my hand and just looked at me, so I grabbed some TONGS and picked the mouse up this time and she grabbed it again. Indigos seem to really like smaller smaller prey items especially when they are juveniles and still growing. I have also experienced adults raising up about 18 inches off the ground and charging out of the cage and bowling me over backwards! It still isn't anything like being backed out of a room be an adult wild Eastern Diamondback or even more thrilling, by a female Bushmaster! But that should be on another forum.
