Jason, I'm an old fart and probably caught ( before they were protcted) about 20 Tx Indigos...This was in the 60's...And I returned almost all of them to the wild...I NEVER was bitten by any of them. One 7 1/2 fter, I pulled and dug out of a gopher mound for 2 hours and he never offered to bite!! Thanks for the great picture!! Good luck with your herp writing...Carl
: Well I wasn't actually herping and a snake was the last thing I thought I'd see but hey, South Texas is pretty much not normal as far as the rest of the country is concerned. Anyhow 2 days before christmas and I found this 6.5 ft.
: +/- Texas Indigo laying beside the road. I know its not the best picture but he wouldn't sit still long enough to get a good shot. I dont know yet if his behavior was normal but he never acted defensive and even crawled over me as I was lying on the ground trying to get his picture. Eventually he crawled into this mesquite bush and paused long enough for me to get this one shot. They are such an impressive snake!
: Everyone have a great christmas and happy (sober) new year...Jason
