I agree with Dean...Take Pics, give the guy a chance to make good on his offer to take them back...
Having said that...This whole thread is disturbing...I've always thought that Drymarchon lovers, which I guess is not synonomous with "breeders", were above this sort of dealing..These animals are too priceless and the emotions of waiting for them to get to you, preparation, paperwork etc are very taxing...The thrill of taking the animal from the shipping crate and finding these seemingly gross flaws must have been truly awful...I really feel for you...
You do have choices...Just because the animal isn't perfect, doesn't mean it won't be a great animal to keep and raise, if holding one of these gems was your main goal and NOT making $$...So your emotional decision tree needs to be separated from your business and decide just why you really wanted these animals...Difficult decision perhaps, but one that should be made with your underlying reasons for getting them to start with as a key ...If you keep them, just promise yourself, and us, never to breed them...I'm not sure we know if its incubation problems or genetic, if you haven't seen the parents...
I really hope you can solve this delimma amicably..I'd hate to think one of "us" is being less than honest and up front in our dealings with each other...While I have only been on this forum for a couple of years, I feel like I belong to some type of Fraternity and I do not want that feeling to be tarnished...I hope whomever you dealt with will be honest and do the right thing...If he does, I'll buy from him without hesitation...Integrity is something you can't buy and once you lose it, you will never get it back...
Hope my soap box didn't disturb anyone..Carl
: I recently picked up a couple of easterns two of them came in with kinks. I have read that this is primarily an incubation issue, but am worried it is genetic. One of the animals has a rib that juts out slightly 1/3 of the way down his body as well as a kink towards the tail near the vent area. The other one has a kink after the vent. Do you think it is a gentic problem or incubation temp? I was hoping to grow these guys up and breed them.
: Any comments or advice would be appreciated.
