I agree 100%..Horned lizards ate army ants which essentially have no bite and have also been decimated by the %$@#**^!! FA...Try to find a farm pond with anywhere the # of frogs, turtles and snake that were ther in the 60's and 70's..Heck, you can't stand on the bank to fish, they'll get you!!
: I stayed summers with grandparents in the early and mid sixties and there were so many rat snakes, king snakes, water snakes and water mocassins. There were huge 4 inch red and yellow grasshoppers in the 50's- The grasshoppers are gone for good. The snake populations have dwindled. By the 80' it was dramatic. Rarly saw a snake in East Tx where infestations were heavy. Oh and I believe this is what wiped out the horned toad- Gone by the 60's. Here is a good map-need acrobat( by USDA showing range of ants. Note that there are 3 counties in S TX range of Indigos that are NOT infested yet with Fire ants - Probably too dry and terrain not suitable
