: Actually, with as much money as movies cost, you'd think they'd use REAL venemous snakes in their shots, even venomoids, whose venom glands have ben removed..but I have seen Pueblan milksnakes being used for coral snakes, and ratsnakes for Vipers(Go figure!)

due to strict and clear insurance regulations, common sense and the fact that producers know that the movie going public doesn't know dic about doc about herpetology, the animals that are seen briefly in these shots are the pets of crew members who are working that particular movie and they are compensated a small stipend for the use of their animals. btw, in one of the indiana jones flicks, an eastern indigo was used.
