: Good to see you hanging out in here Steve. You're always good for a few tidbits of terrifying information ;-) I haven't cleaned with ammonia for a couple of years.
: I do have a question about cleaning. Do you know if Quat type cleaners kill crypto'?

Doug,
I'm not sure about Quatricide. I'll ask the Vets at the Zoo tomorrow and get back to you on it.
Do you still keep a Mole Viper? What subspecies is it? I got 1.1 baby Shieldnose Cobras yesterday. They are so cool!
: : I just wanted to state a few facts for those who might not know them yet.
: : Reptile Cryptosporidia can't be killed by bleach. Only 2 things kill it: pure ammonia and steam. Ammonia is easy to get, cheap and can be sprayed on in a mist bottle.
: : Crypto causes herps to regurge because, over the long term, it makes the lining of stomach thicken. That's why an animal regurges and you feed it smaller items for awhile and it holds them down. Eventually, as thickening continues, it can't hold down anything.
: : Ammonia disinfection and good husbandry will prevent it from spreading; it's not airborne. Once an animal has it, there isn't any 100% effective treatment.
: : A person can sell you a Crypto animal without knowing. Crypto can be harbored for an awfully long time before it manifests symptoms.
: : Hope this helps,
: : Steve
