Bill Lamar and I got the big yellowtail in northern Peru two years ago. 3:00 in the afternoon on a jungle trail near a banana field. Not five minutes earlier I nailed a gorgeous 3 foot long Boa constrictor. The cribo was measured by us and about ten of our Greentracks clients using a fishing line and bute force. Four seperate measurements came to 9'1" each time. Gigantic girth. Indeed, I have seen Pseustes, Spilotes, and Chironius that were longer but this thing could have (and would have!) eaten any of them!
Cheers, TV
: : Before you go asking for 10 footers, let's try 8, then 9.
: : I have a male couperi that'll top 8 feet by next year maybe. Dino used to own a really big Texas Indigo but I'm pretty sure it was sub-9.
: : I'm sure when somebody comes up with a 10 footer, it will be the belle of the ball.

: : : Does anyone own a 10 foot plus indigo/cribo?
: ok, now the floodgates are open! here's what i've heard. [read] i think this was in an old post but i remember reading that terry vandeventer and possibly bill love caught a 10'+ male yt cribo in the jungle one time. i also remember that terry remarked that it was a world class colubrid and that though he'd seen longer colubrids, he'd never seen one that long w/ that kind of weight before making it the largest colubrid he'd ever seen. said that it stunk up the place too when they finally nabbed it. and i believe that there are pictures of it as well. can you imagine running into such a monster?!? i remember thinking water snakes were really big and 'deadly' as a kid. lol.
