I'm thinking the same thing. I'll be the first to say I would take full advantage of people who would be willing to buy an albino indigo. Selfish? Yes.
Right now there are some "calico" cribos being bred. Probably not a big deal as this is a natural phase. Still, I don't think we're that far from the "morphs" routine with Drymarchon. The nice thing about "morphs" is that it's easy to breed it out. Breed back to normal and the morph is going going gone.
I think the real threat will be hybrids. Once the genes are messed up, they're always that way.
Just
: An albino hatches out of your next clutch of snakes.
: Would you sell it for the same price as your normals?
: Would you only outcross it to avoid inbreeding, meaning you wouldn't be able to produce any more for 2 generations?
: I don't like the current trend in "morphs" where every damn ball python is some new stupid morph, and therefore "worth" more. But this will pass. Those fools paying extra for "unusual morph" ball pythons won't get their money out of them.
: I also don't like most designer snakes, but I understand why people go nuts. Other people seem to be willing to pay a premium for them!
