: Happy thanks giving to all! I hope your tummies are full, and your thanks are plentiful today.
: Since alot of us are eating today (some in large quantities, like me!), I thought I would ask an indigo question. What opinions/techniques you would offer for someone who cannot get a baby eastern indigo to eat? A friend of mine brought over a newly acquired baby, and it is a beauty, but I can't offer any advice since I have never kept a juvuenile indigo.
: Many thanks,

Scott W.,
Baby Easterns not eating? As common as a sunrise.:) First tell your friend not to panic, it is completely normal for Eastern Indigos to refuse food as neonates. Ways to get them to eat:
1) Put baby indigo and small pinky in a paper bag or small deli cup so that it is forced to
deal with its prey.
2) Offer baby indigo small goldfish.
3) offer baby indigo small pinkies scented with
goldfish
4) Take pinkies that would be offered to indigo and rub HERRING all over it. This usually works very well in a high percentage of cases.
5) Offer small hatchling cornsnakes as a first starter food.
6)Offer frogs as a first starter food.
7)Provide hidebox and offer the indigos food INSIDE the hide box.
8) Put the snake in a bag, put it in the car in the shade and take it for 1/2 hr bumpy ride. Dont laugh, this has worked for me when all else failed(Includeing tarot cards, lol)
9)Split brain pinkies
10)Force feeding is ALWAYS a last resort, and usually if they dont eat on their own at my house, they die, simple as that. Force feeding in my opinion stresses the snake out and doesnt necessarily elcit a feeding response. It has worked for some people however, so I wont discount it entirely.
Hope this helps your friend, please e-mail me for more tricks. Happy holidays to you, yours and everyone on this forum.
