I for one am glad for people who make a living, collecting, captive breeding and propagating reptiles. This is and can be done reponsibly. Again, let me state for the record, the reason that the Florida Wildlife Commission does NOT give permits has nothing to do with "preserving indigos". They simply do not have the manpower to "regulate" LEGAL collecting or keeping of these animals. So, thus they create a black market for unscrupulas collectors who can sell them for $200.00 apiece! The irony of this is, that they unfortunately don't have the manpower to catch the poachers either. It is of my opinion, that legal breeding of this animal in Florida would greatly reduce the illgal poaching that takes place now, as well as aiding in re establishing populations and educating people who live near viable indigo habitats.
