I am in south Florida at the moment. Anyway this morning I was looking at some property. While driving down a dirt road, I came up on what I first thought was the southern balck racer (they are everywhere) next to a big stick in the middle of the road. I soon realized that the big stick was the rest of a huge indigo snake it was dark, but not black, and about 7 ft in legnth. I slammed on my brakes and undid my seatbelt as the giant turned toward the side of the road. I opened the door and jumped out just in time to witness the tip if the tail as it disapeared into the swamp grass. Never have I seen such a big, alert, and fast serpent in the wild. I can safely say that my first wild encounter with an Indigo snake was very exciting. I will not forget it. I hope the snake dosent either.
