: Hi Folks;

: I've noticed some posts over the past while regarding problem feeder hatchlings & thought I'd share something with you all. I recented aquired a pair of Eastern Indigo hatchlings (which I'm thrilled with & plan to get more!!)

: Anyway the male eats like an alligator gulps fuzzies right out of my hand, the female however just sits & stares @ her food & sometime during the night she'll eat 1 of the 2 fuzzy mice I offer her.

: Earlier this week 1 of my adult Corn snakes was in the middle of a shed so I picked it up & litterally let it crawl our of it's skin, took the freshly shed skin which was still quite sticky, put in in the freezer with a container full of frozen fuzzy mice for a few days.

: WELL last night when offering up these 'marinated' morsels, the male actually scared me when I put food in his cage (he's gonna fun to feed as an adult) & the female gulped down 2 of them right in front of me. I've had them for over a month & this would be the 1st time I seen the girl eat. She was eating all along because the food would be gone & there would be a lump in her belly.

: Just thought I'd share it with you guys so you could put this in your 'options' file when there's a problem feeder & you need to try different things. Maybe you guys do this all the time but when I discovered it I was pretty proud so I thought I'd share. Bare with me as I'm still pretty excited about these little buggers.

: Cheers

Dean,

Your method is certainly more simple than mine. Twenty-five or thirty years ago I published a note in the Chicago Herpetological Society Bulletin where I saved sheds and stuffed them with mice & meat for stubborn snake-eaters. Worked great but was a bit tedius... Shows you that a snakes entire world is based upon chemistry. Congrats on your ingenuity and success.

Cheers

Terry
