You're absolutely correct about this "effort" of the Humane Society to ban reptiles in the U.S. Its not going to happen, its called propaganda.
They put out a press release once or twice a year calling for a ban of exotics (this one is for reptiles, apparently) and it goes nowhere, except to the kingsnake forum. It is part of they're job.
I work for a tv news station, as a photographer in a large market, and trust me it is just standard operating procedure to do this every so often. The media coordinator is just doing his or her job, but it never works. I have never covered a "ban" issue story about the Humane Society, believe it or not, we know better! Atleast where I work we do. We get piles of faxed press releases
everyday, and guess what, 90% of them are garbage within minutes. They are very easy to weed out.
With that said, anyone can feel free to email me of any reptiles issues the press should be aware of in the future. I would be more than happy to make some official calls for ya'll, and ease the worry.....or get involved in a legitimate story. Please don't fall into the trap of the "media conspiracy", it does'nt exist. Take care, and don't be shy, you have an ally.

: I'm glad you see things my way. Very true...we have no reason to worry over this. I've seen people try to start this before, it always turns out to be some hoax just to get things all messed up in here. Kinda like the guy who posted a pic and article of a rattlesnake he had killed in the venomous forum. I appologize for furthering this issue and causing dismay to anyone whom may have come across this.
: But on a note of some issuance, I picked up my first cribo at the NC reptile show in Raleigh this weekend. He's a beautiful black-tail cribo, though he's got a slight nose rub from the undersized cage he was being kept in. He seems to be settling well, though clearly unnerved from the new surroundings. I also ran across a yellow tail, but it dissappeared before I got to investigate it further.
