: I've had a pair of easterns for 5 years now, just got a hatchling female too. The adults are extremly calm. I handle them outside freely and have no problem letting them roam around in the grass. They have never made an effort to bolt. I do admit that I do keep a close watchful eye. It would be a costly mistake if they took off. They are just very gentle calm animals (except when feeding, then look out!) enjoy them!
