As hathlings, my indigos take goldfish/minnows or fish scented pinkies. Once on rodents I keep them on rodents. Indigos would probably benefit from some variety in their diet such as fish, frogs and perhaps even an occasional bird such as a small quail. My concern is in parasite transmission which is why I stick with frozen/thawed mice and rats of appropriate size. My oldest indigos are five years old and in seemingly in perfect health. I don't feed anything bigger than a medium sized rat to my large adults (but they may take 3-4 at a single feeding). I do provide vitamin supplements but only sparingly. You'll love these snakes; they have been my biggest challenge from a breeding standpoint but it has been worth the effort.
: I have a pair of easterns coming real soon, and I can hardly wait. My question when it comes to food is some feed rats some feed fish, what do you feed (as adults) and why?
