That sounds plausible, with the egg I mean, placing the egg in with the mice. I have tricked garters into eating pinkies by rubbing a feeder gold fish on the pink then giving it to the snake.
You think toads can be toxic to a snake. I just lost a wandering garter, which was in a tank with a toad, which was too big for the snake to eat ?? I'll have to do some research on that this point, thanks for bringing it to my attention.
