: Hello all,
: Anyone have any input as to whether indigos differentiate between cat/dog smell and mouse/rodent smell? If an indigo 'knows' after smelling me that I am not food, will he feel the same way if I have been in contact with a cat or dog? Can an indigo differentiate between prey items and non-prey items?
Dog,
Indigos not only hunt by SMELL, they also hunt by sight and feeling(Vibration), many times, they will strike out at an itewm that is a non-food item simply because it moved or vibrated.
This could be your hand, a cat, your dog, your kids hand or an old shoe, it will still elicit a feeding response.
I have had my dogs go up to the cages and both my large male and my largest female would be hitting the glass trying to get at them. I DO think that they can tell the diffrence between cats and dogs, mice/rats and cats and dog, and us(Humans)
however, I feel that many times their "feeding response" overrides the olfactory input that they receive.
Sincerely,
Fred
: Thanks!
