I'm relatively new to indigos, but here is my 2 cents.
I noticed this once on my 00 male. I called up his breeder (Chuck Elliot) and asked him if this was something out of the ordinary and if Indigos have wetter than normal (compared to other colubrids) mouths. He said that it's nothing to panic about just yet, that maybe he just drank some water before I came in and picked him up.
I only noticed it because when he squeezed his head between my fingers, the pressure put on his head made the liquid, whatever it was, seep out of his nostrils and mouth.
Sure enough, next time I looked, it was normal.
: My smaller female eastern indigo has "frothy saliva" which I can detect between her lips. She has no mucus leaking out of her mouth or nostrils and she is eating fine. She is a three year captive and has never been sick. Day temps around 85; nite temps around 70-75. She is going opaque. Any experience with "frothy saliva"? If she gets worse, I will take her to a vet, but I want to know what a good treatment would be. Ideas? Thanks.
