First and formost, they are definately a unique snake to keep. Curious, pretty, friendly (I trust these snakes with even the most curious kids, meaning they easily tolerate poking and prodding!)
Being someone who has always been, for lack of a better word.....scared of big snakes, indigos have proven to be trustworthy to me! So, my point is that if you want a snake that can attain a fairly large size without being a danger, and is also very fascinating to observe.....get an indigo. Some people say they are "messy", but that to me is subjective. I cage mine appropriately (room to run!), secure all the decorations, provide places to hide, and clean it regularly. That is all it takes, I think!
Give em' a try.

(I recently bought a juvenile Black Tail Cribo, and enjoy it just as much!)
